In the International Olive Day<\/strong>, we want to pay tribute to the Picual Olive Tree<\/strong>, the olive variety<\/strong> present in our farms \u201cLa Fuensantilla\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cCarlota\u201d<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The picual olive variety<\/strong> is the most widespread in Jaen<\/strong> and in Andalusia<\/strong> in general (around one million hectares throughout the region).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a Picual Olive tree like and why do we want to honor it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Picual Olive tree<\/strong> is very resistant to cold; It adapts in an amazing way to different types of soils and climates.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ripening<\/strong> is early<\/strong> and the olive<\/strong> falls down without too much difficulty, so mechanization is an agile process to harvest.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The oil<\/strong>, obtained exclusively by mechanical cold pressing systems, provides us with a very high content of oleic acid<\/strong> (monounsaturated), the most appreciated for its benefits in our health<\/strong>. This characteristic, together with its small proportion of polyunsaturated content, makes the picual variety oil<\/strong> a true gift for the senses and for well-being.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Picual extra virgin olive oil<\/strong> has an acidity concentration of less than 1%, and since no heat is applied, its properties remain 100% intact.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olive “Picual” Why?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A picual olive tree<\/strong> has fruits with form of a beak<\/strong>. This olive variety (Olea Europaea<\/strong>) is also known as \u201clepere\u00f1o\u201d, \u201cnevadillo\u201d or \u201cmarte\u00f1o\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\nThe color of the obverse acquires a shade of a more happening green and a reverse of green pulling gray, as you can see in this photograph we made during the early harvest <\/strong> last October.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
